Specifications
- Supply input: 9–21 V, max 6 A (through the chain connectors, 3 A per pin)
- Motor output: 6 A continuous, 15 A peak per phase
- Controller: ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, 8 MB flash, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE
- Gate driver: TI DRV8300, 200 ns dead time
- Power stage: six 30 V MOSFETs, three half-bridges
- Sensing: phase current on all three phases, supply voltage, board temperature
- Encoder: Infineon TLE5012B, 15-bit, SPI
- CAN: CAN 2.0, up to 1 Mbit/s, 120 Ω termination switched by firmware
- Protection: reverse-polarity MOSFET, 22 V TVS diode. Over-current protection is in firmware. No fuse
- Programming: native USB via a five-pin header (VBUS, D−, D+, GND, boot). No USB socket
- Motor connection: three-way screw terminal, 5 mm pitch, 22–14 AWG
- Connectors: two JST XH 6-pin (2 × VIN, 2 × GND, CANL, CANH), wired straight through
- Board: 50 × 50 mm, 4 layers, 1.6 mm, four M3 holes on a 43.6 mm square
In the box
- FOC Controller board
- Shaft magnet, glued to the end of the motor shaft for the encoder (magnetised across its diameter)
Mounting
Fit short standoffs to the rear of the motor and screw the board to them. The encoder on the underside faces the shaft end, 1 to 3 mm from the magnet. Keep steel away from the magnet, keep at least 3 mm between the board and the motor can, and insulate the encoder pads. The motor in the pictures is not included.
Daisy-chain
The supply is shared along the chain: all nodes on one cable draw their combined current through it, up to 6 A. Feed more cables in for more. The CAN termination is off at power-up; switch it on at the two ends of the chain.
Status
In development. The first boards have not been built or tested, so every figure on this page is a design target, not a measurement. No firmware is included yet.
